Return refers to the distance from the center-line of the front of the rod and the wall.
Front Arm Length refers to the front length of the French Return. French Return Brackets add 3 1/4" to each side of your rod. For example, if your rod is cut-down to 30" wide, the French Returns (one on each side) will add 6 1/2" to the finished rod width, resulting in a 'finished' rod width of 36 1/2"
The Base Plate of the French Return Bracket is 2 1/8" wide
